ABSTRACT

This paper is based on the analysis of the novel Kryptonita (2011), located in a Buenos Aires suburbs hospital. We take the analysis as a tool of reflexion and elaboration of hypotheses about the reality of hospitals, workers of the public health system and its users.

Our interest is oriented to visualize in the literature the meanings and social representations that are promoted around the processes of health-disease, their relationship with people suffering from a health problem, and with the historical-social and cultural context in which it acquires full meaning.

The analysis of this particular novel allows us to draw some parallels between those marginal and excluded from the system and those who are advocating the task of care, in a way that move from conventional representations of medical knowledge and practices. In this approach, it is possible to problematize some realities which are silenced in everyday routines.

Key words: Hospital; Public Health; Social Inequalities, Literature.
